Francesco Vezzoli’s sculpture of Sophia Loren is part of the amazing visual art project in New Orleans, Prospect.2.
It’s displayed in the Piazza d’italia, a prime example of postmodern architecture nestled in the Warehouse District, honoring the New Orleans’ Italian community and the cinematic bombshell of the 60′s and 70′s. The Piazza d’Italia was overlooked for many years but has emerged as of late as an architectural dream and seemed like a prime spot for Milanese sculptor Vezzoli to feature his Chirico-inspired goddess Sophia Loren. The Piazza alone is a must see for any architectural buff but now more so for anyone interested in the world of sculpture and art, especially art inspired by a beauty like Sophia Loren. On display now through January 29th.
