Benefiting the exhibitions and educational programs at the Austin Museum of Art and Art House at the Jones Center, the Five x Seven event has come to represent what’s best about springtime–a sense of fun, socializing, and reawakening after a mildly cool Texas Winter.
Each year, the Five x Seven event showcases over 1,000 works from contemporary artists. The best part is that the viewers can engage in a sort of artistic Easter egg hunt by purchasing any of the works for a set price. The catch is that the artists’ name will not be revealed until after purchase. This way, viewers may encounter exciting new work (even if they might be looking for a particular artists’ visual signature).
The event is divided into two evenings, each compelling a different audience to open their purse strings. On Wednesday, April 4, 2012 from 7:00-10:00pm, Art House hosts the SPLURGE event, catering to those art enthusiasts who want to have first pick of the art for sale. At SPLURGE, $150 gets you in the door to choose from over 1,000 original Five x Seven artworks. All works by emerging and established artists are priced at $150 each, $100 for AMOA-Arthouse Members. Plus, each SPLURGE ticket includes a $25 credit toward the purchase of one Five x Seven.
For $30 the following night, April 5th, 2012 from 7:00-10:00pm, visitors can attend the Five x Seven SOCIAL, a mixing and mingling of the artists and public where works will still be up for purchase for $150, $100 for AMOA-Arthouse Members.
