Thinking Cap Theatre in association with Empire Stage proudly presents the Florida premiere of Cleansed by the late, great London playwright, Sarah Kane. Cleansed, Kane’s 3rdplay, is a unique, passionate, and gripping play about the limits of love. To what lengths would one go to mourn a lost loved one? To what lengths would one go to express devotion to a lover or to seek forgiveness from a forsaken lover? To what lengths would one go to put others’ love on trial? These are some of the questions that Kane’s one-act, action-packed, and undeniably thought-provoking play poses.

Set in a purposely ambiguous environment that is part university, part sanatorium, part dream—or nightmare, Cleansed features a seven-person cast: Tinker, a Mephistophelean anti-Cupid; siblings, Graham and Grace; gay lovers, Rod and Carl; suicidal in-patient, Robin; and a peepshow dancer merely called Woman. The talented South Florida cast of Thinking Cap’s production includes Robert Alter, Christina Jolie Breza, Jim Gibbons, Andy Herrmann, Desiree Mora, Daniel Nieves, and John Robert Warren.

Thinking Cap is a Fort-Lauderdale based professional theatre company that performs out of Empire Stage. Our company brings a slice of the downtown NYC theatre scene to downtown Fort Lauderdale. Our company dedicates itself to producing plays with compelling stories and fresh form and style. Old and new experimental plays as well as modern adaptations of classics are staples of our programming.
