The Omaha Summer Arts Festival is scheduled for June 8, 9, and 10th downtown at the Gene Leahy Mall. If you’ve attended this festival in years past then you already know what a great time it is, but do you know that you can be an intricate part of making it happen? You already know you’re going to go, so why not volunteer to help out?
Sign Up to Volunteer
Visit the Omaha Summer Arts Festival website to sign up to volunteer. Don’t worry if you’re not an artist – if you can check wrist bands or hand out water bottles, they can use your help. They are also looking for volunteers to greet visitors, help out with the kids’ crafts, and assist the artists and musicians. Basically, whatever you are looking to do to help out, they’re happy to have you help.
Not only do you get the satisfaction of knowing that you’ve helped pull off another successful festival, but you’ll also get a t-shirt and a free lunch. That isn’t bad for working a couple of three-hour shifts surrounded by art, music, and food.
Attend the Festival
This is the 38th annual Summer Arts Festival for Omaha. The Artists’ Market is open all three days of the festival, as is the World Music Pavilion Stage. The Children’s Fair goes Saturday and Sunday. Swing by TasteFest during the festival to sample a wide variety of delicious food.
Even if you don’t have the time to volunteer, at least take the time to check out this year’s offerings. There’s just something about the Omaha community coming together to celebrate the arts – you really don’t want to miss this.
