The road to Broadway starts here

Is your high school son or daughter a budding Broadway baby? Want to be the first one thanked in his/her Tony acceptance speech? Then send your kid to the Texas Musical Theatre Workshop for some musical training and a chance to make some like-minded pals this summer.

Texas State University and the University of Texas at Austin are teaming up to present their inaugural Texas Musical Theatre Workshop from June 10 to 30, 2012. Enrollment is limited to 120 participants, who will be given the chance to learn from experienced Broadway singers and dancers Joyce Chittick and Natasha Davison, director Matt Lenz, and composer Andrew Lippa.

There’s no audition process. All that’s needed to qualify for acceptance is a strong interest in musical theatre performance. Students must have completed their freshman year of high school by the start date of the workshop. Tuition includes shared housing at the University of Texas at Austin, as well as three meals a day. Classes meet from 9 to 5 Monday through Friday; evenings and weekends will include supervised activities such as swimming, bowling, a student talent show, and a Tony Awards watching party.

Use the discount code MARCH EARLY BIRD or MAY EARLY BIRD to save $250 on tuition. There’s a limit one discount code per student.
