Fat Men in Skirts

Join Outré Theatre Company as they present their first reading of their 2013 season, Fat Men in Skirts by Nicky Silver. This fun dramedy is produced in conjunction with Empire Stage, for one performance only on Tuesday, January 22nd at 8:00 pm.

Nicky Silver’s Fat Men in Skirts, a dark comedy, explores the past and brings us back to the future. Callous, sophisticated Phyllis and her stuttering eleven year old son, Bishop, are stranded on a desert island for five years after a plan crash. During their stay, we learn their family history through flashbacks. The roles in society are abandoned. At home, Phyllis’ husband and Bishop’s father, movie director Howard, holds out for news of his family along with his ex-porn star mistress, Pam.  When the savagely transformed Bishop and Phyllis are returned to civilization, the transition back to normalcy proves challenging for all.  This reading is directed by Ilana Isaacson, and stars Skye Whitcomb as Howard, Nori Tecosky as Pam, Ann Marie Olsen as Phyllis and Bobby Johnston as Bishop.

Bring your friends for an evening of fun. Please be aware: this play contains themes of rape, matricide, patricide, infanticide, murder, cannibalism, incest, violence, love, guilt, lies, monstrosities, ghosts, demons, shoe fetishism, cussing, and comedy.

The reading will be at Empire Stage, located at 1140 N Flagler Drive in Fort Lauderdale, FL.  This is a free reading, but Snack Packs (Beverage & Snack) are available at the door for $10! This is a fundraiser event, so bring an amigo!  For more information please visit them online at www.Outretheatrecompany.com.
