“Into The Woods” Comes to West Boca’s Slow Burn Theatre

Journey into the dark side of Happily Ever as Slow Burn Theatre invites you to a twisted fairy tale land, deep in the world of Stephen Sondheim’s popular musical Into The Woods. With music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and book by James Lapine, it is a story complete with dead giants, less-than-charming princes and one particularly ambivalent witch. Enjoy the exquisite score as your favorite fairy tale characters learn “Nothing’s all black, but then nothing’s all white” when you venture “Into the Woods.”

Composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim has been described as “the greatest and perhaps best-known artist in the American musical theatre.” His work includes the musicals A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Company, Do I Hear a Waltz?, Follies, Pacific Overtures, Anyone Can Whistle, Merrily We Roll Along, Sweeney Todd, A Little Night Music, Sunday In The Park With George, Into The Woods, Passion and Assassins. He also wrote the lyrics for West Side Story and Gypsy. He is the recipient of seven Tony Awards (more than any other composer), two Grammy Awards, the 1990 Academy Award for Best Song for “Sooner or Later” from Dick Tracy, the 1985 Pulitzer Prize in Drama for Sunday In The Park With George, the Kennedy Center Honors for Lifetime Achievement in 1993 and a Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre in 2008.

This production of Into The Woods will be appearing through April 13 – 22, 2012, at the West Boca Performing Arts Center on the campus of West Boca High, 12811 West Glades Rd.
