FINDING NEVERLAND
(Kravis On Broadway)
The winner of Broadway.com’s Audience Choice Award for Best Musical, this breathtaking smash “captures the kid-at-heart,” says TIME Magazine. Vogue cheers, “It’s a must-see you’ll remember for years to come!” Directed by visionary Tony®-winner Diane Paulus and based on the critically-acclaimed Academy Award® winning film, FINDING NEVERLAND tells the incredible story behind one of the world’s most beloved characters: Peter Pan. Playwright J.M. Barrie struggles to find inspiration until he meets four young brothers and their beautiful widowed mother. Spellbound by the boys’ enchanting make-believe adventures, he sets out to write a play that will astound London theatergoers. With a little bit of pixie dust and a lot of faith, Barrie takes this monumental leap, leaving his old world behind for Neverland, where nothing is impossible and the wonder of childhood lasts forever. The magic of Barrie’s classic tale springs spectacularly to life in this heartwarming theatrical event. FINDING NEVERLAND is “far and away the best musical of the year!” (NPR).

Writers will receive a private evaluation of their work from Julie Gilbert, who will also lead the discussion. There are two sessions of the Writers’ Circle. Discover the Power of Music and The Mind!
(ArtSmart)
Renée Fleming’s Music and The Mind explores the power of music as it relates to health, including childhood development, music therapy, and discoveries that are changing our understanding of the brain. Ms. Fleming will be joined by Dr. David Fitzpatrick, Chief Executive Officer and Scientific Director of the Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience. Throughout her journey as an artist, Ms. Fleming has been struck by music’s power to heal and transform lives. “Beyond its ability to enthrall and entertain, music offers a host of health benefits – from childhood development to therapeutic applications for Alzheimer’s disease, autism, PTSD, Parkinson’s disease and chronic pain,” said Ms. Fleming. “And close to my heart, singing can retrain the brain to use different neural circuitry, helping those who have sustained a traumatic brain injury or suffered a stroke regain the ability to speak.” Note:  To reserve tickets to this complimentary lecture, please call our RSVP hotline (561.651.4349). Wendy Whelan: Former New York City Ballet Member
Her Rise from Anomaly to Stardom
A Dancer-to-Dancer Conversation with Steven Caras
(A Kravis Center Cultural Society Event)
Like caviar, New York City Ballet dancer Wendy Whelan was at first an acquired taste. But soon this wiry, angular, one-of-a-kind artist inspired company directors Jerome Robbins and Peter Martins to feature her uniqueness.  Whelan’s subsequent rise to Principal Ballerina status coincided with a rapidly growing fan base – an enormous audience who continue to cheer her on to this day.  Now 50, following hip surgery and a glorious farewell at NYCB, Whelan dances on, collaborating with today’s most innovative contemporary choreographers, promoting their important work in the process. Restless Creature, the new, aptly named documentary profiling Whelan’s life, is currently being held-over in theaters across the country.  Excerpts will be featured in a revealing, dancer-to-dancer conversation with fellow NYCB alumnus, Steven Caras.
