Man of La Mancha in Ft. Lauderdale

The Outré Theatre Company presents a concert performance of Man of La Mancha, as the third and final production of their pre-season series, for one performance only on May 14th at 7pm..

Based on Miguel Cervantes’ masterpiece The Adventures of Don Quixote, this iconic musical follows one man’s struggle to better himself and his world, through his daring to embrace the beautiful and exciting world he has created in his imagination, rather than accepting the cruel and cold world that the rest of humanity calls reality.  Accompanied by his friend Sancho Panza, the knight-errant Don Quixote searches for purpose and dreams, to add some measure of grace to a world where facts are the enemy of the truth. The musical features a book by Dale Wasserman, lyrics by Joe Darion, and music by Mitch Leigh. The original 1965 Broadway production ran for 2,328 performances and won five Tony Awards, including Best Musical. It has been revived four times on Broadway, becoming one of the most enduring works of musical theatre. Man of La Mancha uses the frame story of Cervantes’ arrest by the Spanish Inquisition to set the stage for a story of redemption, beauty, and wonder.

Man of La Mancha will be performed at Don Taft University Center’s Performance Hall, Nova Southeastern University. Nova Southeastern University is located at 3301 College Avenue,  Fort Lauderdale-Davie, FL. Tickets are $20, and are available at the door or on Outre’ Theatre’s website at www.outretheatrecompany.com.
