Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays

The City Theatre and the Broward Center for the Performing Arts will present the South Florida premiere of Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays Thursday, June 21 to Sunday, June 24 in the Amaturo Theater at the Broward Center in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Tickets go on sale April 13th, and are $35-45 including a post-show wedding reception complete with music and wedding cake!

Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays was conceived by Brian Shnipper, and began as a series of benefit events in Los Angeles before an Off-Broadway engagement last fall. It consists of nine, 10-minute plays written by an impressive team of writers. The team includes Emmy Award® winner Mo Gaffney, Heideman Award winner Jordan Harrison, Edgar Award winner Jeffrey Hatcher, Pulitzer Prize winner and Tony Award® nominee Neil LaBute, Sundance Jury Prize winner Wendy MacLeod, Obie Award winner José Rivera, Obie and Outer Critics Circle Award winner Paul Rudnick, Tony Award® nominee Moisés Kaufman and Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award® winner Doug Wright. Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays has been described as insightful and stirring as it is funny and heartwarming.

Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays will be appearing at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts Thursday and Friday, June 21 and 22 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, June 23 at 7 and 10 p.m. and Sunday, June 24 at 3 p.m. A portion of all proceeds of this production will be donated to Equality Florida, continuing a practice established in the original production of contributing show proceeds to an organization that promotes the issue of marriage equality.
