Slow Burn Theatre and the Broward Center crown the first season of the Abdo New River Room Theater Series at the Broward Center with the musical The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.  The musical has music and lyrics by William Finn, best known for Falsettos, and story by Rachel Sheinkin who won the Tony and Drama Desk Awards for “Best Book of a Musical.” 

With two Tony Awards and three Drama Desk Awards, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee leads to letter-perfect entertainment. Slow Burn Theatre and the Broward Center present this irresistibly funny Broadway smash that features infectious songs, audience participation and laugh-out-loud comedy. Audience members follow the cast of six awkward adolescents through a daunting and delightful spelling championship quest.  The endearing tweens share hilarious and touching stories from their home life as they hope to win the competition and avoid getting sent home with a juice box consolation prize. 

The Abdo New River Room Theater Series experience combines great food and big laughs for an exceptional dining and theater outing. Audiences are invited to enjoy drinks and a modern menu with table service that begins 90 minutes prior to the performance and resumes during intermission in the newly designed cabaret-style space.
