The Broadway Collection

At present The Broadway Collection may perhaps be an undiscovered jewel to many in South Florida, but that is all about to change! The elegant costume museum, owned by Costume World, is to be featured on The Today Show on Wednesday, March 21st at 8:00 am. Once aired, this attraction is sure to deservedly become one of the area’s most desired destinations for residents and tourists alike.

The Broadway Collection is an astounding exhibit of the finest costumes ever brought to the Broadway stage by the most honored and respected designers in the history of the American theatre. Presented in a fully inter-active environment, tours are led by knowledgeable and entertaining theatre professionals who give the visitor a remarkable “behind-the-scenes” look at the work of iconic designers such as Sir Cecil Beaton, Irene Sharaff, Theoni Aldredge and William Ivey Long. A visit to The Broadway Collection is a walk through the history of the American Musical Theatre where you will be embraced by the theatrical experience and wrapped up in its rich history.
Tours, by appointments only, may include a luncheon, high tea or special event of your choosing.  You may dine at the Broadway Collection’s loving re-creation of New York’s famous Tavern-on-the-Green Restaurant.  Seated beneath a crystal and amber chandelier that once hung in Tavern-on-the-Green, guests are served  on the same exquisite china, silver and crystal that graced the tables of this historic restaurant.  There is also entertainment available, as guests may choose to have one of the talented singers at the Broadway Collection perform hit songs from Broadway shows.  An extra added bonus is the appearance of owner Marilynn Wick who narrates the journey of her becoming the owner of the Broadway Collection and Costume World. Marilynn’s fascinating story is the perfect way to end your visit to the Great White Way.

Following your tour and luncheon, you’ll don white gloves and have a chance to walk through the museum for a one-on-one experience with the collection. You’ll be able to see first-hand how the costumes are constructed and the intricate detail that goes into each piece. What better way to fully appreciate the expert craftsmanship used in the creation of this incredible collection than to hold it in your own hand? Next, you’ll visit a charming Tavern Hat Room delicately appointed after the décor of the famed Tavern-on-the–Green. Take a turn in front of the mirror in one of our vintage hats or  remarkable headpieces from many of the shows in the Collection. Don’t forget to bring your camera to record this fun and memorable portion of your tour. A visit to The Broadway Collection is a walk through the history of the American Theatre where you will be embraced by the theatrical experience and wrapped up in its rich history.
