Art at Saint Mart Nov 20th

Art at Saint Mart

Arts for All is hosting its second annual Art at Saint Mart shindig this Sunday at the historic St. Martin of Tours Episcopal Church from 11:00-2:00. It’s an art show for local artists coupled with a fundraiser, so not only do you get to peruse art and eat soup, but you can feel good knowing that the money you spend on the cost of admission ($7 for adults, $5 for kids) will go to two worthy causes.

How worthy? Arts for All is a non-profit organization serving the Omaha metropolitan area by providing low cost art classes to kids and adults. I’ve been affiliated with this organization for some time; not only do I teach classes occasionally, but my kids take classes once a week through this program. AFA offers plenty of art classes (painting, cartooning, sculpture) in addition to the myriad other classes offered (dance, acting, creative writing, and just about any instrument you can think of) and the prices can’t be beat. Scholarships are available for families that cannot afford the tuition costs. Judy Mallory, AFA director, is often quoted as saying that the organization strives to make the arts available and affordable for all.

As far as St. Martin of Tours Episcopal Church, it’s a work of art within itself. Anyone who appreciates art will see the beauty in this historic building, so this makes it the perfect host for this particular art show.

Local artists participating include Molly Conway, Heather Wells, and Jerry Jacoby. For more info, visit the AFA website.
