Art for Everyone in 2012!

Museums and galleries in Minneapolis and St. Paul are offering great exhibits throughout 2012. From plein air to modern to contemporary, there’s something for everyone’s taste. Here’s a short list of some major events happening this month.

► Outdoor Painters of MN Members Show at The FrameWorks until January 7


► Resident Artists VIII: In Process at Altered Esthetics, January 5-26


► 1st Annual Lowertown Art Show at AZ Gallery& the Black Dog Café through January 15


► “Standards”–Mark Ostapchuk, and “90º South”–Chris Willcox, MAEP Galleries of the Minnesota Institute of Arts, January 20 to April 1.


► “World Beats: Global Contemporary Art” at the Minnesota Institute of Arts, Gallery 276, through July 15, 2012


► “Two Sides of the Modern: Maverix ReMix” at the Minnesota Institute of Arts, Galleries 360 and 361, through February 19, 2012


► “The Art and Archaeology of the Scythians” lecture and discussion with Professor Matthew Canepa at The Museum of Russian Art, January 28.


► Lowertown First Fridays—the monthly art walk on the first Friday of each month, 6 to 9 pm. Five artists’ buildings in Lowertown – Tilsner, Jax, Lowertown Lofts, Northwestern Building and the Northern Warehouse, are participating in a monthly open studios


► Northrup King Building—open studios on the first Thursday of every month, from 5 to 9 pm.
