Bernadette Peters and the LPO is on for February 28

One of the greatest divas for the past three decades is winging her way to New Orleans to perform with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO). Bernadette Peters, who has played such iconic roles as Mama Rose in Gypsy, Mabel Normand in Mack and Mabel and Annie Oakley in Annie Get Your Gun will be singing many of the fabled songs that established her as one of the greatest luminaries of the Broadway stage. Peters has been a mainstay in Stephen Sondheim original casts such as Sunday in the Park with George and Into the Woods and recently was in a revival cast of Follies.

Peters has received seven nominations for Tony Awards and won two Best Actress nods for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Song and Dance and the revival of Irving Berlin’s Annie Get Your Gun . Additionally, she was named the winner of an honorary Tony last year, the Isabelle Stephenson Award,  to recognize her work as a humanitarian. She is the recipient of three Drama Desk Awards and four of the Broadway cast albums on which she starred have received Grammy Awards.

Peters has had numerous appearances in film (“Pennies from Heaven,” “The Jerk,” “Slaves of New York” and “W.C. Fields and Me”) and on TV has been featured in show such as “Ugly Betty,” “Law and Order: SVU,” “Boston Legal,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” and last year’s “Smash” with music by Marc Shaiman (Hairspray and Catch Me If You Can.)

This special LPO concert will be in a different venue, the Ernest M. Morial Convention Center Theater, 900 Convention Center Boulevard.  The orchestra will be conducted by Marvin Laird. Prices for the special show begin at $20 and go all the way up to premium seats listed at $99 each.
