Philadelphia’s Museum of Art is ringing in the holidays with a series of special programs , and this next week is jam-packed with a whole slew of different events. For those looking for a traditionally academic experience, the museum will be hosting “The Christmas Story” which will be a guided tour of the paintings that tell the story of Christmas. Given that the museum’s collection spans thousands of years, no doubt there will be a lot of variety in the objects selected. In addition to the tours, there will be performances by the Haddonfield Memorial High School Madrigal Singers — singing acapella music from 16th century Italy while wearing Renaissance costumes — as well as the West Philadelphia Orchestra, St Thomas African Episcopal Gospel Choir, and the Keystone State Boys Choir. There are programs aimed at children too: get creative at the Winter Family Studio, or join in the musical performance by the Cat’s Pajamas. All of this leads to the New Year’s Eve Pre-Party on 30 December 2011 where you can begin your celebrations early with cocktails and music from Auld Lang Syne. It’s sure to be a great holiday season at the PMA so put on your holiday attire and head on over to the museum!
