A graduate of New World School of the Arts in Miami, Florida where she also danced with the Freddick Bratcher and Company Contemporary Dance Theatre, Courtney D. Jones went on to dance with the Kevin Wynn Collection and then four seasons with Jennifer Muller/The Works. As an ensemble member of Wicked, she joined the company’s national tour and is now in Houston, Texas dancing with Jan Weiner’s Hope Stone Dance and making guest appearances with the Sandra Organ Dance Company, Earthen Vessels.
Jones is completely engaged as a dancer, with a connection between mind, body, and soul that gives her work a power and a charm. This is what engages audiences and has given her nothing but rave reviews. Her impeccable training and natural ability to inhabit the material she is given or makes is the fiber that creates the cloth of a star. Dancer, actress, and choreographer, Jones recently created the piece “blink” for the Urban Souls Dance Company, a provocative piece about what can happen physically and emotionally in the blink of an eye.
At home in many settings, Jones has so many places to grow and explore, making her, as Dance Magazine has stated in their “who to watch in 2012” one to watch in the many years to come.
