The Las Vegas Arts District recently welcomed a new gallery. The Amanda Harris Gallery of Contemporary Art opened with its current show, a collection of work by Wess Dahl-Berg. The Amanda Harris Gallery’s intention of providing a creative space that displays high quality and sophisticated contemporary art is realized by the art and events present and proposed.
Located in the ‘old’ downtown, the gallery is a short walk from Freemont Street and just a short car ride from the main Las Vegas Strip. Also close-by are the Neon Museum and Lied Children’s Museum , making it an ideal one stop, half a day entertainment for the whole family.
The Amanda Harris Gallery of Contemporary Arts came about with the collaboration of Amanda Harris, a Las Vegas local with a passion for art and promoting local talent and with support from Mike Vakneen an art collector immersed in the arts scene in Los Angeles and Sam Cherry an art collector committed to improving the arts scene and building community in downtown Las Vegas.
Appropriately, the gallery opened with the work of Wess Dahl-Berg, who moved to Las Vegas five years ago and uses the desert to facilitate his exploration of art. Wess Dahl-Berg is currently showing ‘The Nocturnal Landscapes’ a series of layered desert landscapes that evolve from day into night. To see a progression of this unique process visit his website here. Also on display are ‘Existential Paint’ a collection of painting that explore the nature of paint, in both its original liquid form and the more permanent structure of paint as a solid. Mr. Dahl-Berg creates layered works of art which suggest that the pieces are as much about what the viewer sees, as what is underneath. To view a progressive of his ‘Existential Paint’ click here.
Beginning March 1, gallery hours are: Thursday – Sunday, 1 – 5pm.
Amanda Harris and Wess Dahl-Berg were gracious enough to conduct a private tour of the gallery, please call the gallery to book a private tours.
