Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra is a 70-member professional ensemble under the direction of newly appointed Music Director and Principal Conductor, John Morris Russell who will begin his tenure in the 2012-2013 Season. The group has grown from a small amateur chamber group founded in 1982 to a full-fledged ensemble replete with talented professional members and world-class soloists.

It was renamed in 2002, when its focus narrowed to featuring just music, albeit some of the most eclectic music to be found.
