For audiences seeking liturgical Baroque music, the concerts offered by the Bach Society Houston at Christ the King Lutheran Church are essential.  And with four distinct series—Abendmusik (evening music), Bach Vespers, Organ Vespers, and Chamber Music—the range of the repertory, from partitas and sonatas to concertos and full-scale choral/orchestral masterpieces like St. Matthew Passion, is impressive.  As the organization’s name suggests, the music of Bach takes precedence, with supplementary performances of additional works by composers like Georg Philipp Telemann, Jean-Philippe Rameau, and Felix Mendelssohn.  All concerts are offered to the public completely free of charge.
