Founded in 1999 and dedicated to presenting the classics in Harlem, CTH has, to date, produced plays by such greats as Euripides, Shakespeare, Anton Chekhov, Samuel Beckett, Jean Genet, Langston Hughes, Derek Walcott, and August Wilson. CTH combines non-traditional casting, original adaptations, music, and dance in innovative productions of time-honored works. Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, Medea, Trojan Women, Three Sisters, Mother Courage and Her Children, Waiting for Godot, and Marat/Sade are some of the classics that have been staged here in recent seasons.
