With more than 40,000 works of art, the Cleveland Museum of Art is best-known for its top-notch Asian, medieval European, and pre-Columbian collections. In addition, it also holds famous masterpieces by Turner, Van Gogh, Picasso, and Monet, as well as the moving Stag Night at Sharkey’s by George Bellow.

The Armor Court will be a hit with any child and the special exhibitions the museum often provides features a distinctive and interesting twist to the traditional. With a carefully chosen collection of public programs as well, this well-rounded museum, set in serene Wade Park, is both dependable and enjoyable; it’s difficult to go wrong at the Cleveland Museum of Art.

  • Public Transportation: Fair (the museum is served by the Regional Transit Authority Red Line; bus service is also available, but requires a five- to seven-minute walk)
  • Handicapped Accessibility: Good (the museum is handicapped accessible, except for the south steps; assisted-listening devices are available for use in the lecture and recital hall for the hearing impaired)
  • Hours: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m.–5 p.m., Wednesday and Friday 10 a.m.–9 p.m., closed Monday
  • Admission: Free (fee for special exhibitions)
  • Tours: Free for individuals and groups
  • Membership: Individual membership is $50, Family/Duo membership is $65. Students ($25) and senior couples ($45) receive significant discounts. Benefits of membership include reciprocal admission to other local and national art institutions.
