Now in its tenth year, the Congo Square Theatre Company presents productions that explore African-American heritage, the entire African Diaspora, and the world at large. This financially struggling company suffered the departure of founding artistic director Derrick Sanders in January 2010, and it was then announced that Congo Square would produce only one show in its 2010 season: a revival of The Colored Museumby George C. Wolfe, to be performed in May under the direction of Anthony Irons. The company has also scheduled a reading festival that will feature the 10 most popular plays it has presented over the past decade. Ann Joseph Douglas is serving as interim artistic director.
