(August – September, 2012) The brainchild of eminent minimalist composer Philip Glass, the Days and Nights Festival offers two late summer weeks of musical performances, theatrical productions, poetry readings, dance recitals and film presentations, most of which are presented at the Hidden Valley Theatre in Carmel Valley. A newcomer in 2011, Days and Nights is still in its infancy, but the inaugural edition – which offered performances by such luminaries as Molissa Fenley, John Moran and Saori Tsukada, along with several by Glass himself – would seem to bode extraordinarily well for the future.
