(June) Billed as “New Jersey’s longest running jazz picnic”, the Jazz Fest at Drew University (which moved in 2011 to the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morristown and will be held there in 2012 as well) has for years presented the best of what New Jersey has to offer the jazz world. It is produced by the New Jersey Jazz Society, a non-profit organization that has been dedicated to the preservation of the jazz tradition in New Jersey since 1972.

The musical fare at the Jazz Fest leans toward the traditional side of small-group jazz and swing, occasionally featuring vocalists and larger ensembles. In addition to the music, the outdoor festival offers food and drink for sale, and features vendors selling local arts and crafts, rare vinyl records, and CDs. It is unclear at this writing if the Jazz Fest will be returning to Drew University in the future.
