(June) Originally known as the Red Bank Jazz and Blues Festival, the Jersey Shore Jazz and Blues Festival changed names due to its relocation from its original home at Marine Park in Red Bank, NJ. It is now held at the Monmouth Park racetrack in Oceanport.
The JSJBF still features a good variety of jazz, blues and more. It lasts two days (one full weekend) in June and features live music played simultaneously at three different locations in the park. The music featured leans heavily toward the blues, but includes a wide variety of jazz, as well as rock, folk, country and Cajun music. Each evening’s bill is headlined by one nationally-known touring act, though most of the performers are local.
In addition to the wide variety of live music, the festival features food and drink vendors and crafts and games; the $3 admission price even allows admittance to the racetrack. No seating is available, so festival-goers are advised to bring towels and lawn chairs.
