This is one of several small, Off-Broadway theater companies known for bare-bones, semi-staged productions of certain old musicals that are highly unlikely to receive major revivals. Since its inception in 1998, Mel Miller’s company has presented such rarities as Calendar Girl (Kern and Wodehouse), By the Beautiful Sea (Schwartz and Fields), Dearest Enemy (Rodgers and Hart), Goldilocks (Walter & Jean Kerr), The Happy Time (Kander & Ebb), Look Ma, I’m Dancin’ (Hugh Martin), and Foxy (Johnny Mercer).
