A unique theatrical entity committed solely to the development of new creative writing, Playwrights Theatre of New Jersey has, since 1986, elevated the creation of hundreds of premiere works for the stage. Working through a developmental program that invites patrons to witness the evolution of a new play from first draft readings through fully staged productions, Playwrights presents a nurturing environment for writers in a creative arena, allowing vital audience feedback along the way. The educational component of Playwrights Theatre is rooted in a Creative Arts Academy for emerging writers of all ages and the New Jersey Writers Project, an initiative establishing Artists-in-Residence in local classrooms. The Madison Young Playwrights Festival and the nationally acclaimed Poetry Out Loud celebration round out Playwrights Theatre’s roster for imagination stimulation.
