Reno Jazz Festival

website

(April) Since its inception in 1962, the Reno Jazz Festival has grown in size and stature to become one of the largest festivals of its kind in the nation. Every April, tens of thousands of participants, guests, student groups and invited performers descend on the campus of University of Nevada, Reno for three days of performances by everyone from the beginner-level student performer to the top-tier jazz legend. Artists like Ravi Coltrane, Bill Holman and Lee Konitz headline evening concerts after very full days of hundreds of sets by groups from all around the West.

Student competitions, workshops, clinics and concerts take place at a number of venues around the UNR campus. Student groups compete for a number of awards which are presented at the final concert of the festival.

Different price and seating levels are available for each day or for multiple days. We recommend combing through the festival schedule to find clinicians and special events that pique your interest and to stay for the headlining performers. Being in a concert hall with the next generation of jazz aficionados hanging on every note of today’s standard bearers is an unforgettable experience.
