Savanna Jazz presents live jazz Wednesday through Sunday with everything from sultry songbook singers to big bands and Latin jazz ensembles. Wednesday nights feature a Swing band with Swing Dance instruction available. The cover charges are very reasonable ($5-10) and the cuisine is an interesting blend of French, Caribbean and West African dishes. The club’s dedication to jazz’s storied history is charming and the club’s booking practices follow in this vein, sticking with mainly straight ahead jazz with a smattering of “new jazz” players thrown in the mix for good measure. Best nights are usually Friday and Saturday, but if you’re looking for more of a community affair, try the Thursday night jazz jam sessions.
