Chinese fusion cuisine and great jazz; it doesn’t get much more New Jersey than that (or so we’re told). Shanghai Jazz features some of the finest New Jersey players and occasionally pulls in some of the greats from NYC. In 2010, the restaurant featured Freddy Cole and Bucky Pizzarelli and continues to bring in bigger names. For the most part, patrons come here for the music just as much as for the food and are respectfully quiet during the sets. The food is a little on the higher end for New Jersey, but with no cover and a nice listening room, it’s appropriate for a night out. Music on Tuesday 6:30–9:00 p.m., Wednesday–Thursday 7:00–9:30 p.m., Friday 7:00–10:30 p.m., Saturday two shows at 6:30 p.m. and 8:45 p.m., and Sunday 6:00–8:30 p.m.
