Founded in 1987, Stages St. Louis is a professional, not-for-profit theatre company dedicated to preserving and advancing the art form of the American musical theatre. The company presents shows from May to October in the 380-seat Robert G. Reim Theatre at the Kirkwood Civic Center; recent productions have included Big River, State Fair, and Promises, Promises.
The Stages Performing Arts Academy, which opened in March 2004, offers a comprehensive, year-round musical theatre curriculum of dance, voice, drama, and theory for students of all ages and skill levels. Stages St. Louis is now in the midst of a $31 million capital campaign to build a new performing arts center and academy that will include a 730-seat main stage theatre, a 200-seat second stage, and expansion room for a future 299 seat venue.
