Considered to be among the best professional choral ensembles in the country, The Princeton Singers have built their reputation on excellence in sound and a dedication to exciting and innovative programming. The singers are led by composer-conductor Steven Sametz, a highly respected figure in the contemporary choral arts scene, who has considerably expanded the group’s repertoire to include gospel, jazz, and popular music. The ensemble has released a number of CDs alone and in collaboration with other area ensembles. One of the greatest pleasures for a choral ensemble can be the process of commissioning new works from composers, and The Princeton Singers has a very active commission program and frequently participates in workshops for young composers. The ensemble’s programming tends to run the gamut of classic and contemporary choral works from Medieval pieces onward, and the venues for the concerts are generally in the Princeton area.
