The historic Tivoli Theater is architecturally one of the most striking buildings in St. Louis’s University City Loop area. The Tivoli has weathered some difficult times, going through many owners, suffering years in decline, and eventually closing in 1994. But a $2 million renovation restored the theater to its former glory, and in 1995 the new and improved Tivoli re-opened as a three-screen cinema that movie lovers now go to in order to catch the best in foreign language and independent film.
