The Toledo Rep has functioned continually since its debut season in 1933-34, when it presented seven shows including A Doll’s House, Craig’s Wife, and The Willow Tree. Recent productions have ranged from Larry Shue’s The Foreigner to Neil Simon’s Chapter Two to the musicals Godspell and The Secret Garden. In addition to its mainstage season and its annual holiday production of A Christmas Carol, Toledo Rep offers an “Edgy Rep” program of staged readings of “provocative” plays. The company also has a wide variety of programs for children, including Saturday morning theatre classes throughout the year and three weeks of summer camp. The Young Rep program presents three shows annually, with actors ranging from six to 19 years old, and the company offers outreach to local schools and other groups through its Armchair Theater and Young Playgoers programs.
