(May) One of Los Angeles’ biggest summer events, UCLA JazzReggae Fest is a Memorial Day Weekend mainstay in LA and is one of the most progressive festivals of its kind in the country. Produced by (unpaid) undergraduate UCLA students, the festival brings some of the finest reggae and jazz musicians in the world to the campus’ intramural fields and attracts a wildly diverse crowd of music lovers.

The festival is one of the “greenest” of its kind, with a focus on sustainability and environmental protection at the forefront of festival planning. In recent years, the festival has included a visual art component that complements the whole atmosphere of the event surprisingly well. Ticket prices are low (remember, the organizers are completely unpaid), but we recommend purchasing two-day tickets in advance (best value). Each year, there are also a limited number of Deluxe Tickets available which puts you in a shaded, unreserved seating area.
