The WorldFest-Houston International  Film and Video Festival embodies the traditional film-festival spirit, dedicating itself exclusively to independent cinema from the U.S. and abroad and not accepting entries from major studios. Every April this festival presents about 50 new features and 100 new short films, each introduced by its director before the screening. Professional seminars, workshops, and other events are offered during the 10-day festival, and all events and screenings are open to the public.

More than 30,000 audience members and 500 filmmakers attend WorldFest-Houston International Film and Video Festival each year, which distinguishes itself further by being the only film festival that presents a stunning regatta as its signature event, held at the Houston Yacht Club on the last day of the festival.
