As the professional theatre in residence at New Jersey City University, Actors Shakespeare Company has been providing a strong united partnership for over a decade. Committed primarily to presenting the works of Shakespeare in a atmosphere that’s both true to the spirit in which the works were originally premiered and also accessible to modern day audiences, ASC’s annual season has grown to include classic works by other writers (Alexandre Dumas, Maxwell Anderson) and a strong commitment to new theatre pieces inspired by the Bard’s greatest works (The Jewish King Lear). The company’s exciting laboratory based productions explore experimental new takes on classics like Macbeth and Romeo and Juliet, while its education programs provide workshops and three day intensive residencies provoking detailed analysis on classical texts.
