Arts America – the New Online Cultural Arts Guide to the Best Visual and Performing Arts in America

(April 24, 2012) Arts America is the new website that provides news, information and links for 2,000+ museums and performing arts organizations in 95 United States cities. The respective areas of coverage include: Art Museums; Classical Music; Dance; Film; Jazz; Opera and Theater. Arts enthusiasts can search for information various ways by viewing: Genres; US Cities; Arts News; Blogs; and an informative value-added section called More Art, Less $$$. There is also a category at the top of the page for the major 2012 Summer Arts Festivals throughout the country.

Arts America visitors can learn what is going on, culturally, in cities around the country, and where to plan a culture-filled vacation or weekend away. Arts America is the top new one-stop resource to help arts enthusiasts find and discover the best cultural entertainment in America.

Each city’s listing on Arts America begins with a capsule introduction to the arts scene and provides information and links to the general arts information sites and then information on the city’s leading performing arts institutions, organizations, festivals and venues. There are numerous color photos to highlight the city and its venues and organizations.

The site includes general advice for enjoying the arts, both at home and on the road. Arts America provides the important details for hundreds of arts organizations, including their websites, public-transportation options, handicapped access, hours, and admission fees. There is information on strategies for saving money: free days, discounted performances, subscriptions and memberships, and myriad half-price opportunities.

Arts America’s founder is Jeffrey Compton (Publisher), a life-long art enthusiast who has served on numerous boards including Chorus America, the Cleveland State University Foundation, the Robert Page Singers, and the Casino Management Association; he lives in New York City. John Broughton (Associate Publisher) is the author of the book Wikipedia: The Missing Manual. Justin Martin (Executive Editor) is a writer and editor living in Queens, NY. He holds degrees in literature and history from Purchase College.
