2016-17 SILVER PALM AWARDS

South Florida Theatre’s
2016-17 SILVER PALM AWARDS
to be presented at ArtServe
December 11, 2017

“I can’t believe it!,” says Tony Finstrom, Executive Committee Chairman of South Florida’s Silver Palm Awards for theatre. “We’re ten years old already!” Founded in 2007 to honor outstanding contributions to theatre in the region by playwright Finstrom, actress/talk show host Iris Acker, and theatre critic Ron Levitt who comprise the executive committee, the 2016-17 Silver Palm Awards ceremony and cocktail reception will this year be held at Artserve, 1350 Sunrise Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, on Monday, December 11, 2017, at 7:00 PM.

“The Silver Palm Awards are presented annually to those who’ve made an outstanding or unique contribution to South Florida Theatre,” explained Finstrom. “There are no nominees, no winners or losers, and no limit to the number of citations given. It’s one of the biggest yearly networking parties for our theatre community and, from my point of view, it’s so entertaining to watch everyone come together and have a great time, while they celebrate some amazing work.”

The Silver Palm Awards executive committee has enlisted theatrical producers Matt May and Jennifer Sierra-Grobbelaar, creators and producers of Diego & Drew Say I Do, and recipients of last year’s Silver Palm Award for their “Outstanding Interactive Theatrical Experience,” to produce this year’s event. The multi-talented and multi award-winning actor, playwright, designer, and “host with the most,” Michael McKeever, will emcee the ceremony.

“We’re very excited to produce this year’s event,” said Matt May. “ArtServe is proving to be a wonderful partner, and we’re confident this year’s 10th anniversary ceremony will be a fabulous night of fun for all who attend.” Jennifer echoed Matt’s comments, and further stated “The Silver Palm Awards mean so much to our theater community, recognizing outstanding contributions made each season. We are honored the executive committee accepted our offer to lend our support in spearheading this milestone celebration.”

The names of the recipients of this year’s Silver Palm Awards will be announced soon, along with details about reservations for this event. For more information about South Florida’s Silver Palm Awards, visit: http://www.silverpalmawards.com.
