The historic Jazz Showcase features some of Chicago’s finest as well as national touring acts on the weekends. The club itself has been around since the late 40’s and during its early years, played host to a number of the now legends of jazz.

Monday through Wednesday you may find everything from big bands to world music ensembles and Thursday through Sunday you’ll find some of the best straight ahead, bebop, cool and everything in between. There is generally no cover, but some of the bigger acts will charge you at the door. Some nights of the week, there is half-price admission available to students and musicians, but you better believe that you’ll probably be paying full price if you try to charm the doorman with your kazoo rendition of “Swanee River.”

Locals take note: There are also discounts available to members of the venerable Jazz Institute of Chicago, as is the case at most of the major clubs in Chi-town.
