Antonacci Makes Rare Stop at Alice Tully Hall

photo Marie-Noelle Robert

Anna Caterina Antonacci is a living operatic legend in Europe. Over here, she’s mostly known through recordings and reputation – she’s never sung a full opera in America, and she almost never tours. (You can, if you like, blame the Met Opera, who offered her Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni a few years back and then decided to go with Angela Gheorghiu instead. Spoiler: Gheorghiu dropped out of the production.) And now Anna Caterina Antonacci is 51 years old: “so old,” she says, which is not the case, at all, and ample proof of that frequency can be found at Alice Tully Hall on Sunday at 5.
