Austin Ballet Project Sheds Light on the Holocaust

Rene Michaels/

Chaddick Dance Theater artistic director Cheryl Chaddick was somewhat rattled upon first encountering stories of the Holocaust in junior high. That experience stayed with her, as it is wont to do, and so when Ballet Austin came calling, requesting a three-month collaboration with the C.D.T. that would deal with both ballet and Holocaust education, Chaddick’s troupe jumped on board. The partnership comes to a head beginning today, with Dark to Light, a five-part dance performance dealing with the Big Questions – life, death, God, spirituality, heaven, hell, and man’s inhumanity to man.
