It might be an allegory, or a fever dream, or a swampy vision spiraling out of the Louisiana fog; whatever else it is, Beasts of the Southern Wild is incontestably the Grand Jury Prize winner of this year’s Sundance Film Festival. Whistles! Sparks! Flash! The film, made with a largely novice cast and crew, deals with the aftermath of Katrina in southern Louisiana as seen through the eyes of a six-year-old girl.
