Detroit Symphony Announces 2012-13 Jazz Programming

We’re not going to say anything ever again about the Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s near-disintegration last year, because the DSO has clearly put that unfortunate situation in the rear view and slammed on the gas. Now we’re just going to talk about all the neat stuff that the DSO’s got planned for the near future, starting with yesterday’s announcement of a pretty solid 2012-13 DSO Paradise Jazz series. They’ve lined up Cassandra Wilson, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Jack DeJohnette, Roy Haynes and a big all-star package from the Monterey Jazz Fest, among other goodies, and so yeah, we’re not going to talk any more about how bad it got for the DSO once upon a time.
