Dial M for Murder

Stage Door Theatre presents Dial M for Murder. Frederick Knott’s Dial M for Murder is a psychological thriller – a character driven, carefully plotted, ‘cat-and mouse’ piece of theatre that is as contemporary now as it was when it first premiered on BBC television in 1952.

Best known as a classic Alfred Hitchcock film, this ‘noir’ thriller was performed in London’s West End and on Broadway several years before Hitchcock adapted it for the screen.   The play centers around former tennis star Tony Wendice and his scheme to have his wealthy wife murdered, after learning she has designated him her heir.  Although Wendice’s plans are evident almost from the outset, Knott’s clever plotting and characterizations will keep audiences on the edge of their seats throughout the play.

Dial M for Murder is being directed by Arthur Whitelaw, who, along with the rest of the cast is impressed by the quality of Knott’s script.  “It’s so well written,” he says. “Our audiences are in for a treat.”

Dial M for Murder will run from October 30 – December 6 at The Stage Door Theatre. The theatre is located at 8036 Sample Road, Margate, 33065.  Tickets for Dial M for Murder are $38 – $42; $16 student tickets are also available.  Tickets may be purchased at the Broward Stage Door Theatre box office at 954-344-7765 or on line at www.stagedoortheatre.com.
