Driving Miss Daisy

The Adolph & Rose Levis Jewish Community Center’s Phyllis & Harvey Sandler Center, in association with Chicken Coop Theatre, proudly present the well-known production, Driving Miss Daisy by American playwright Alfred Uhry, February 2-19, 2017 at the Levis JCC Sandler Center. Featured actors include Ellen Murray, Geoff Short and Tony Rein.

Driving Miss Daisy is set in mid-century Atlanta and is about an elderly Jewish widow Daisy Werthan, who is deemed too old to drive, so her son Boolie hires Hoke Colburn, an African American man, to serve as her chauffeur. What begins as a troubled pairing, soon blossoms into a profound, life-altering friendship that transcends all of the societal boundaries placed between them. Alfred Uhry’s classic play first premiered in 1987 in New York City; it won the 1988 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Driving Miss Daisy is a timeless, funny, and ultimately hopeful meditation on race relations in America.

From moving dramas to delightful musicals, the Levis JCC Sandler Center offers theatergoers a variety of professional and community theater performances.
