ELEW Brings His “Rockjazz” To Loews Philly

“Rockjazz,” okay, let’s talk rockjazz for a second. Specifically, rockjazz as created and performed by ELEW, who is a big, big man who plays a big, big piano. And does he ever play the hell out of that thing, too. His percussive hammering on the bass keys makes you wonder, not if he’d break his fingers if he missed, but how many he’d break, and in how many places. This is not smooth fusion, is what’s to be remembered; heavy metal piano? Punk jazz? It’s some neat hybrid, at any rate, and Philadelphia will be able to experience it first-hand this evening, no pun intended, at Loews Philadelphia Hotel on Market St. The show starts at eight, there’s no cover, and ELEW will play until you can’t dance anymore.
