Today is Friday the 13th. This is not a day that, generally speaking, makes us worry about haints and spooks and bad bad luck. But the stigma, yes, it is still there, and so that is why learning such things as that the good people of Houston can go and see HITS Theatre’s production of the massive and challenging Ragtime this weekend, tonight and tomorrow night, for free, out beneath the stars at the Miller Outdoor Theatre, fills us with such candid joy, because it is a terrific musical and outdoor theater is the best kind of theater, and also it is free, and what more can be expected on Friday the 13th than quality free theater, outdoors, before it is too hot to think?
