Guitarchestra brings lifelong dream to reality for Tulsa musician

(Heather Warlick Moore, The Oklahoman) What happens when the compositions of classical greats such as Beethoven and Bach meet a modern-day rock musician and entrepreneur? Guitarchestra.

This nine-piece guitar band is the brainchild of Tulsa’s Jerry West, a lifelong musician, teacher, composer and idea guy. The band will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday at Green Country Event Center, 12000 E 31 St., Tulsa.

Guitarchestra’s show is an electric guitar orchestration of 18 recognizable classical tunes including the first movement of Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, Bach’s “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desire,” Dvorak’s “The New World Symphony” and Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus.”
